Kids Summer Bible Study

Find this week’s free videos at: http://www.campingstickkidsblog.com/todays-live-videos-from-fb/

At Camping Stick Kids we believe kids can and should learn to study the Bible on their own.

This Blog is a place for kids ages 8-14 who are eager to grow in their faith and understanding of God’s Word. You will find weekly instructional videos as well as corresponding art projects to inspire your students creativity. Matthew, a real live eleven year old boy will post scripture memory videos.

Our first six week series will be live on our FB page each Tuesday morning at 10:15, June 14th, 2016 to July 19th, 2016. We will broadcast from our local Life Way Christian Book store.

Last week we introduced everyone to Matthew and the study materials we’ll be using.

In the following weeks we will open the subscription section of this blog. You will be able to access all of the videos as well as give your kids the opportunity to share their work and engage with Matthew in a chat room.

We hope you will join us over on our FB page.

What you need to study the Bible

Studying the Bible can seem intimidating and maybe you are worried it might be boring. You will be surprised at how studying the Word of God is not only interesting but life changing. Do you need help learning how to control your temper? Are you feeling sad about something? Do you feel like things are not going your way?  God has the answers for you in the Bible. You may be just a kid, but you are smart and able to learn. So come join us as we study Titus and find out what it looks like to live for Christ.

Tomorrow at 10:15 you can find us live on our FB feed. All you need is your Bible and some colored pencils to do the study. However, if you want to do our craft and paper folding activity you could also have the following ready:

1 square piece of paper

A piece of tape

A sharpie

Colored pencils

1 piece of drawing paper

Here’s a video to explain it more.

What does it mean to Disciple my kids?

Someone once asked a group I was in, “How are you discipling your children?”

My 3 sons a few years back.

My boys

I immediately thought of our family prayer times. I also recalled conversations we’ve had regarding right and wrong and what the Bible has to say about it.  But I was a bit taken back to learn that discipleship is more intentional that just night time prayers and a few wholesome conversations.

A disciple by definition is a follower and a student of a mentor or teacher. Wow that means my kids are disciples of my teaching and training.

Discipleship takes it one step further. Discipleship in the bible primarily refers to disciples of Jesus who are given a mission. A mission like the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16-20.

Jesus commands his disciples to Go and tell others how to obey everything he’s commanded.

So if I’m discipling my children I am teaching them to know and understand what the “everything” Jesus commanded is. I’m also training them to be able and equipped to do the “Go” part of that command.

Oh boy that seems overwhelming doesn’t it?

This is why, I believe teaching our children to study the Bible is essential to their training as disciples. My boys have all received Christ as their Savior. But studying the Bible is not something I’ve trained them to do.  In order for them to understand the “everything” Jesus spoke of, I believe they need to know how to observe, interpret and apply the scripture correctly.

So, my eleven year old son and I have been doing just that. We found this awesome book called How to study the Bible for Kids.

We want to share this experience with you, so you can disciple your children as well.  Even though this website has a subscription page you can find us live on our FB page each Tuesday at 10:15 through July 19th 2016.

You’ll love our subscription though as it’s only a one time fee of $4.99. Subscribing will gain you:

  • Access to all our prior videos
  • Detailed bible study notes from each Tuesday morning’s broadcast.
  • My bible art videos
  • Matt’s paper folding videos.
  • A chat page where you can chat with me or your kids can chat with Matt about what they are learning.

Won’t you join us as we seek to disciple this generation for Christ?

WE WRITE OUR OWN KIDS MUSIC

Matt and I love to create music together. We wrote a song about the Isle of Crete complete with lyrics. Matt loved it so much he taught himself how to play it on his clarinet. Here he is playing the song: Lyrics below.Matt only plays through once and I think he forgot to do the bridge twice..but we’ll try to put it all together for you in an updated video soon! Enjoy!

LYRICS: THE ISLE OF CRETE SUNG BY A YOUNG BOY AND GIRL

YOUNG BOY AND GIRL SING TOGEHTER ON THE VERSES

VS: ONE

ON THE ISLE OF CRETE TITUS FOUND SOME CRETANS

EVIL BRUTES WHO WOULD STEAL HIM BLIND

ON THE ISLE OF CRETE TITUS FOUND SOME GLUTTONS

SORRY SOULS WHO WERE SO UN-KIND

YOUNG GIRL: IF YOU GO THERE JUST BEWARE THEY MIGHT STEAL YOUR UNDERWEAR!

YOUNG BOY: IF I GO THERE I MIGHT FIND THESE GUYS ARE MY FAVORITE KIND

CHORUS: WE’LL ….. BE….. SITTING ON OUR BUTTS EATING COCONUTS

YELLING AT OUR MAIDS, MAKE MORE LEMONADE

STAYING UP ALL NIGHT, GETTING INTO FIGHTS

THAT’S HOW A CREATONS MADE.

VERSE TWO:

ON THE ISLE OF CRETE TITUS FOUND SOME CHRISTIANS

GODLY MEN WHO CHOOSE NOT TO LIE

ON THE ISLE OF CRETE TITUS FOUND SOME WOMEN

GODLY SOULS WITH JOY FILLED LIVES

YOUNG GIRL: IF YOU GO THERE YOU MIGHT SEE GOD COMMANDS THEIR DESTINY

YOUNG BOY: IF I GO THERE I MIGHT FIND, THESE GUYS ARE MY FAVORITE KIND

NO….. MORE…. SITTING ON OUR BUTTS EATING COCONUTS!

NO YELLING AT OUR MAIDS MAKE MORE LEMONADE

WE’LL BE LIVING LIVES FOR CHRIST, STAYING OUT OF FIGHTS

THAT’S HOW A CHRISTIANS MADE.
